Stony Brook downs Molloy 62-53 in Long Island clash

Stony Brook, N.Y. – Senior Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) and sophomore Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) scored 14 points each to help the Stony Brook women's basketball team to a 62-53 win over Long Island foe Molloy Friday night at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 4-5 on the year, while the Lions drop to 8-4.

McCombs' Reaction
"Molloy came in here and played a great game. We came out of the gate and knocked down some shots early which allowed us to play with a lead for the entire game. Fortunately, we made enough plays down the stretch to get the win."

Turning Point
The Seawolves never trailed in the contest, but an 11-0 Molloy run late in the third quarter trimmed a 12-point cushion to just one in the waning seconds of the frame. With 11 seconds remaining in the quarter, junior Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, Pa.) drained a three-pointer to give Stony Brook a 44-40 lead through three.

After a three-pointer by Molloy's Kamala Thompson opened the fourth quarter, a three-point play by senior Elizabeth Manner (Vienna, Va.) made it 47-43 with 8:35 to go and kept the Seawolves in front by at least two possessions for the remainder of the contest.
