Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's basketball team (16-11, 8-6 AE) stayed within arm's reach of the first-place Albany Great Danes (22-4, 13-1 AE) on Wednesday night, but could never take the lead as they fell 62-49 at Island Federal Credit Union Arena.

"I thought we played well and competed," said head coach Caroline McCombs. "It seemed like every time we went on a run, they had an answer and went on a mini run of their own and that was the difference."
Turning Point
Stony Brook put itself behind the eight-ball with a slow first quarter. The Seawolves scored just seven points in the first period and trailed 15-7. Stony Brook and Albany played each other dead even for the next two quarters before the Great Danes pulled away over the final six minutes.
Inside the Numbers
- The Seawolves shot 19-of-47 (40.4%) from the field and 4-of-14 from three (28.6%). Albany went 20-of-44 from the floor (45.5%) and 2-for-7 from downtown (28.6%).
- Albany won the game at the free-throw line, converting 20-of-23 attempts (87.0%). The Seawolves were 7-of-10 (70.0%) from the free-throw line.

- Sophomore Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a team-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting and 2-of-4 shooting from three-point range.
- Freshman Ogechi Anyagaligbo (Miami, Fla.) finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
- Senior Brittany Snow had a balanced game with eight points, five rebounds and four assists.
- The Seawolves hit four of their first seven three-pointers before missing their final seven attempts.
