Stony Brook travels to face Maine Sunday

Tip-Off: The Stony Brook men's basketball team will travel to Maine for the final regular season road game Sunday.  Josh Caray will broadcast the action on WHLI 1100 AM.

Opponent: Maine last played on February 14, losing at Albany, 108-64.  Issac Vann, who leads the Black Bears with 15.2 points per game, scored a game-high 26 points against the Great Danes.  The Black Bears, who are winless in February, have one of the conference's best offenses, averaging 77.0 points.

Series: Since Stony Brook joined Division I prior to the 1999-2000 season, it leads the all-time series, 19-14.  The Seawolves, who've won 12 straight against the Black Bears, won the earlier meeting, 81-54, on January 25.  Maine earned a pair of wins in 1970 and 1971 to close the gap to 19-16.

Last Time Out: Despite five players in double figures, the Stony Brook men's basketball team had its 18-game winning streak snapped by Albany, 82-70.

Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) became the school's all-time leading scorer with his 1,979th point tonight, breaking Emeka Smith's school record, which stood since 1993.

Stony Brook's (22-5, 13-1 America East) last loss came on December 12, 2015 at Northeastern. The Seawolves winning streak of 18 games was the longest active streak in the country.

Warney and junior Ahmad Walker (Port Washington, N.Y.) scored 14 points apiece.

Senior Rayshaun McGrew (Chicago, Ill.) added 13 points and senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) and junior Lucas Woodhouse (Greenlawn, N.Y.) had 12 and 10, respectively.

Joe Cremo had 16 points for Albany (22-7, 10-3).

Up Next: Stony Brook will wrap up the regular season Saturday, February 27 against Vermont at 7 p.m. Prior to the game, Warney, Puriefoy and McGrew will be honored on Senior Day.
