Vestal, N.Y. - Freshman Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) tied her career-high with 19 points but it wasn't enough as the Stony Brook women's basketball team (14-8, 6-3 AE) fell at Binghamton (10-12, 5-4 AE), 54-47.
Turning Point
The Seawolves led 20-17 at halftime, but were outscored 18-11 in the third quarter. Unlike in their first meeting with the Bearcats, they couldn't mount a fourth quarter comeback, getting no closer than three points in the final period.
Inside the Numbers
- Stony Brook shot 18-of-50 (36.0%) from the field and 4-of-16 (25.0) from three. Binghamton didn't fare any better, finishing 19-of-53 (35.8%) from the floor and 1-of-5 from deep.
- The Seawolves outrebounded the the Bearcats 38-33. Sophomore Elizabeth Manner (Vienna, Va.) led Stony Brook on the backboards with a career-high nine rebounds.
- Second chance points and points off turnovers hurt the Seawolves. Binghamton turned 19 Stony Brook turnovers into 20 points, while Stony Brook only cashed in on six points off turnovers. The Bearcats also scored 14 second chance points on eight offensive rebounds, while the Seawolves could only muster three second chance points.
Notes
- Wingate's 19 points were a result of 3-of-4 shooting from three and 4-of-4 shooting from the foul line. She has scored in double figures in 10 of her last 11 games.
- Stony Brook's 47 points were its second-lowest scoring output of the season. They scored 46 in a win over Morgan State on Dec. 14.
- Stony Brook held Binghamton to 17 first half points, tying the season-low for points scored by an opponent in a half all season.
- The Seawolves are 6-6 in road games, but have lost their last three.
