Boston - A pair of former Stony Brook women's lacrosse All-Americans were named to United Women's Lacrosse League rosters in advance of Saturday's inaugural games, as current assistant coach and 2014 alumna Frankie Caridi, along with 2016 alumna Alyssa Fleming, were selected to the roster of the Baltimore Ride.
Caridi was a Tewaaraton nominee, IWLCA All-American and America East Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 after helping the Seawolves to the program's first two America East titles in 2013 and 2014. The East Northport, New York, native recorded a 5.91 goals-against average during her three years at Stony Brook after winning a Division II national championship as a freshman at Adelphi in 2011.
Fleming was an IWLCA All-American and America East Defensive Player of the Year this spring and was part of the winningest class in program history with 69 wins. The Shoreham, New York, native ranks second in program history with 102 career caused turnovers and is one of just two players in program history to record six or more in a game, a feat achieved March 26 in a win over a top-10 Stanford squad.
Caridi, Fleming and 2013 alumna Demmianne Cook (Philadelphia Force) will play in the first day of games in United Women's Lacrosse League history Saturday in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Baltimore will face the Long Island Sound at 3:15 p.m., while Philadelphia will square off with the Boston Storm in the second half of the doubleheader hosted by Lehigh.
