Seawolves host Wolfie Invitational Saturday

Stony Brook, N.Y.- The Stony Brook men's and women's cross country teams will host the Wolfie Invitational Saturday on the Stony Brook campus.

Stony Brook will be joined by Hofstra for the first time since 2003 along with nationally-ranked Columbia. The day will begin with the men's 8K at 10:00 a.m. with the women's 5K to follow at 10:40 a.m.

"This weekend has us returning to the traditional cross country distances of 8K and 5K, said head coach Andy Ronan. "It will be the first time that the freshmen guys will have competed in the 8K distance. We will be watching to see how they react to it, physically and mentally. With the expected hot conditions it will make a tough introduction to the distance, but we will try to give them a game plan to execute that will hopefully make it a positive first outing."

"This weekend Dan Connelly will open up his fall season, Dan is coming off a very successful sophomore season on the track and is looking to make the same improvement on the cross country course. It also marks the debut of freshman Cameron Avery; he does have an advantage over the other freshmen as he has experienced the 8K in some of his races in New Zealand. We are looking forward to what Cameron can add to the squad this fall. "

"There is no adjustment to distance for the women, they all have covered [the] 5K before in high school. Christine Eisenberg and Liz Caldwell will once again lead the women's squad. Transfer Annika Sisson will be making her Seawolves debut."
