BALTIMORE – The Stony Brook women's basketball team erased a 17-point first-half deficit, but was outlasted by UMBC, 67-61, Wednesday afternoon at RAC Arena. In the defeat, the Seawolves fall to 9-11 and 2-5 in America East play, while the Retrievers improve to 9-11 and 4-3 in conference action.
Turning Point
Stony Brook erased a 17-point deficit thanks in part to a 15-0 run in the third quarter to knot the game at 44-44 with 2:15 to go in the stanza. The game would be tied again at 55-55 with 2:34 remaining in the game before UMBC pulled away – doing most of its damage from the free-throw line – to close out the six-point victory.

Christa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, N.Y.) tallied 17 points and was one of four Seawolves in double figures. Scognamiglio added 10 rebounds for her third career double-double.

Davion Wingate (Atlanta, Ga.) recorded 14 points, while senior
Elizabeth Manner (Vienna, Va.) added 12 and junior
Aaliyah Worley (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds.

Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) tallied a season-best nine assists.
- Stony Brook outrebounded UMBC, 41-37.

- The Seawolves fall to 16-15 against UMBC in the Division I era.
- Bayne-Walker increased her program-record career assist total to 433 and moved to 913 career points.
- Scognamiglio's double-double was the second by Stony Brook this season. Manner tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds in a win at Manhattan Nov. 26.
