STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's soccer wraps up the 2017 regular season this week, hosting Albany on Thursday, Oct. 19 (7 p.m.) for Senior Day before hitting the road on Sunday, Oct. 22 (12 p.m.) to take on Vermont.
Latest in Stony Brook Women's Soccer
The Seawolves enter the week at 8-8-0 (4-2-0 AEC) so far in 2017. Stony Brook has 12 points in league play, which currently ranks No. 3 in the conference. The program cruised past UMBC on Sunday, Oct. 15 behind five different goal scorers.
Scouting Albany
- Albany enters the final week of the season at 5-10-1, 3-3-1 in America East play. The Great Danes topped Maine, 4-1, in their latest contest on Oct. 15, 2017.
- Mariah Williams leads the program offensively with seven goals.
- The Seawolves are 14-6-0 all-time vs. Albany. The Great Danes won the latest matchup between the two programs, 4-0, on Sept. 29, 2016.
Scouting Vermont
- Vermont is 6-7-2 so far this year, 2-3-1 in America East play. The Mountaineers fell in double overtime vs. Hartford on Oct. 15.
- Brooke Jenkins has paced the program offensively with five goals and two assists for 12 total points.
- The Seawolves are 11-13-1 all-time against Vermont. Stony Brook fell vs. UVM in America East postseason play on Oct. 22, 2016 in penalty kicks.

Head Coach
Brendan Faherty enters the week with 99 career wins as a collegiate head coach, needing just two more to hit the 100-win mark. Faherty won 82 games over eight seasons at the University of New Haven, and has 17 wins over his first two years at the helm of the Seawolves' program.

Stony Brook has scored 28 goals so far this season, which ranks tied for first in the America East.

The Seawolves have scored 12 times in conference play, and allowed just four scores in that span. Both rank No. 1 in the America East.

Stony Brook finished the 2017 non-conference portion of its schedule with four wins – the most victories in non-conference action for the program since the 2013 season.

2017 Preseason Poll
Stony Brook women's soccer was tabbed to finish No. 4 in the 2017 America East Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday, Aug. 9. The Seawolves finished with 45 total votes in the preseason poll. Hartford will enter 2017 as the favorite, receiving 58 total points (three first-place votes). Albany received 57 points (five first-place votes), and New Hampshire checked in just ahead of Stony Brook with 51 votes (one first-place vote).
2016 Season
Faherty guided the Seawolves to a 9-8-3 record during his first year with the program in 2016. The team earned its first America East playoff appearance since the 2013 season after notching a Division-I era record six straight conference wins in league play. Faherty earned America East Coach of the Year honors, and saw six players earn all-conference accolades, including two on the first team.
