HACKENSACK, N.J. – Shania Johnson (Frederick, M.D.) scored a season-high 23 points, as Stony Brook women's basketball held on in a tight contest to top Fairleigh Dickinson, 56-51, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference play at the Rothman Center. With today's victory, Stony Brook improves to 3-0 to begin a season for the first time in the Division I era.

Highlights
- Stony Brook shot 18-of-47 (38.3 percent) on the afternoon, hitting five 3-pointers.
- Johnson recorded a season-high 23-points, adding six rebounds and four assists in a team-most 38 minutes played. The junior transfer shot 8-of-15 from the field, nailing all five of the program's 3-pointers in the victory. The reigning America East Player of the Week has scored double-digit point totals in each of her first three games at Stony Brook.
- Jerell Matthews (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with nine points of her own, including a pair of key foul shots with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
- Cheyenne Clark (Deptford, N.J.) added seven points and a team-best nine rebounds, while India Pagan (New London, Conn.) and Giolibeth Perez (Camuy, Puerto Rico) each scored four points.
- There were nine total lead changes in the contest, and both programs recorded 32 rebounds.
- Fast-break chances were a huge advantage for the Seawolves, as Stony Brook outscored FDU on the break 15-2.

- Stony Brook went on a 9-0 run in 2:36 during the middle of the second quarter to take a 21-15 lead.
- At halftime, Johnson led the Seawolves' with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists. Stony Brook 10-for-26 (38.5 percent) from the floor in the first two quarters of play.
- Matthews and Worley both hit a pair of foul shots with under a minute to go in the fourth quarter, helping preserve the lead for Stony Brook.
- The Seawolves outscored FDU 16-14 in the final quarter of play after heading into the fourth with a three-point lead.
