STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's basketball team was defeated by America East foe Hartford, 62-40, Wednesday afternoon at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. With the loss, the Seawolves drop to 10-16 and 3-10 in the America East, while the Hawks move to 16-10 and 7-6 in conference play.
Turning Point
Hartford opened the game on an 11-2 run, but two quick baskets by
Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) cut the lead to 11-6. However, the Seawolves would trail by eight or more the rest of the contest.
By the Numbers
- Sophomore
Ayshia Baker (Lakewood, Fla.) led the team with eight points and six rebounds in just 12 minutes of action. Seniors
Christa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, N.Y.) and Bayne-Walker both added seven.
- Junior
Lauren Williams (North Babylon, N.Y.) chipped in six points in 11 minutes.
- The Seawolves pulled down 23 defensive rebounds, while total rebounds were even at 36.
- Stony Brook received 18 points from its bench.
