STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team continues play on the road as it travels to No. 10/9 Brown Saturday afternoon. Brown is the first ranked opponent the Seawolves will face this season, as they look to keep building in the win column. Brown is coming off of a season-opening victory at home.

Scouting Brown
The Bears opened the season with a commanding, 25-9 win over Quinnipiac at home on Sunday. 2016 Tewaaratton Award winner Dylan Molloy led the way with eight points in the game (4G, 4A), while newcomers Jack Kniffin and Luke McCaleb added six and four goals, respectively. Molloy was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Kniffin brought home the league's Rookie of the Week honors in his debut.

Series Info
The two teams first met last season in Stony Brook as Brown took the close contest, 16-14, in late February. Alex Corpolongo (Purdys, N.Y.) helped lead the way for the Seawolves with three goals and one assist. He got Stony Brook back within one, 14-13, with under seven minutes remaining. Brown responded with back-to-back goals and despite tacking on one more in the final minute of play, the Seawolves were unable to get by the Bears.

Last Time Out
Stony Brook claimed a big win over St. John's on Sunday afternoon, topping the Red Storm 14-5 on the road. The Seawolves went down 4-0 early on, but freshman Cory VanGinhoven (Fort Mill, N.C.) got them on the board in the start of the second quarter, sparking what would eventually be a 14-0 run. St. John's added a man-up goal with under four minutes to play, but the outcome had already been decided. Junior Brandon Maciejewski (Penn Yan, N.Y.) picked up his second win, only allowing four goals while making nine saves.

Corpolongo Named America East Offensive Player of the Week
Corpolongo earned America East Offensive Player of the Week honors in Stony Brook's first week of play after posting nine points through a pair of victories. The senior helped lead the way at Sacred Heart with three goals and two assists, including the game-winner with 40 seconds remaining in the game to make it three straight seasons with a season-opening victory. He followed it up by adding a pair of goals and assists in the lopsided win at St. John's

Against Ranked Opponents
The Seawolves sit at 13-58 against teams ranked in the top 20 since moving to the Division I level in 2000. They have taken down a top 10 opponent once, knocking off then-No. 7 Delaware, 19-16, on March 15, 2008. Stony Brook went 2-2 against ranked competition last season as they topped then-No. 16 Rutgers (15-6) and No. 12 Hofstra (13-5) in back-to-back games. In addition to the Brown loss, Stony Brook fell at No. 11 Albany, 16-10. This was the second time in Division I program history that the Seawolves had taken down ranked opponents in back-to-back outings, also doing so in 2005.
