Stony Brook Adds Four In Early Signing Period

STONY BROOK, N.Y.- Head coach Megan T. Bryant and the Stony Brook softball program announced the signing of four student-athletes on Monday, Nov. 19. Corinne Badger, Brooke Dye, Emma Campbell and Shauna Nuss will all join the Seawolves' program as freshman in 2019-20. 
 
"We are excited to welcome Corinne, Emma, Brooke and Shauna and their families to our Seawolves family. All four are a great fit for Stony Brook academically, athletically and personally. From the very beginning of the recruiting process, this class connected with our program and our goals on and off the field and in the classroom.  Each of these young women is ready to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead of them here as a student-athlete," said Bryant.

Corinne Badger- 5'7, C/3B, Pleasant Valley, NY, Arlington HS
As a junior, Badger hit .453 with six homeruns and 35 RBIs. The Pleasant Valley, New York native was named to All A League and All Section I, and plays her travel ball with Team Long Island DeMarini under coaches Jim Laird and Angel Manguel. The daughter of Karen and Chris is interested in studying biochemistry or nursing. 
 Bryant's Thoughts on Badger: "Corinne is an athletic, strong and gritty competitor. She loves to swing the bat, has a knack for driving in runs and does an excellent job behind the plate and in the infield."

Brooke Dye- 5'4, IF, Auburn, WA, Auburn-Riverside HS
As a junior, Dye hit .500 in league play with 22 RBIs. The Auburn, Washington native was named to the 1st Team All Puget Sound League, and plays her travel ball with the Washington Majestics under coach Steve Vandegrift. The daughter of Kim and Mark is interested in pre-dentistry. 
Bryant's Thoughts on Dye: "Brooke is a high energy player with great skills who competes in her at-bats.  She will be fun to watch and brings versatility and big-play capability to our infield."

 Emma Campbell- 5'5, IF, Portsmouth, RI, Moses Brown School
As a junior, Campbell hit .480 with an OPS of 1.261 and 40 runs scored leading Moses Brown to a 19-3 record and Division I State Championship. The Portsmouth , Rhode Island native was named to the Providence Journal 1st Team All-State, NHSCA Academic All-American, and an Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete. Campbell plays her travel ball for the Rhode Island Thunder Gold-Wilson under coach Adam Laliberte. 
Bryant's Thoughts on Campbell: "Emma is a slick-fielding infielder with a terrific softball IQ and competitive spirit. She is versatile in her skill set and knows what it takes to win."

Shauna Nuss- 5'4, OF, Westampton, NJ, Rancocas Valley HS
As a junior, Nuss hit .417 with 14 stolen bases and 26 runs scored. The Westampton, New Jersey native has earned All-South Jersey honors, and is a Burlington County Scholastic League All-Star. Nuss plays her travel ball with the  South Jersey Mystics 18U Gold under coach Adam Dorman. The daughter of Doreen and Tim has a career goal to become a physical therapist.
Bryant's Thoughts on Nuss: "Shauna has the speed and aggressive style of play that we look for offensively and defensively. She is a smart, gritty player who will be a great addition to our line-up and our outfield."
