STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Former Stony Brook women's soccer head coach Brendan Faherty has resigned and taken a position as the new head coach at Yale University, the program announced Wednesday.
In three seasons, Faherty led the Seawolves to an America East Conference Championship and NCAA Tournament Berth in 2017, knocking off the No. 4 seed Hartford and No. 1 seed New Hampshire en route to the final. He followed that up with the conference's regular season title in 2018, going 6-1-1 in league play and earning the top seed in the America East playoffs.
His first season yielded a third-place finish with his team going 6-2 in America East play and hosting rights for the quarterfinals of the 2016 playoffs.
Overall, the Northeastern graduate finished 31-26-4 in his Seawolves career and 15-7-1 in America East play. A national search for his replacement will begin immediately.
