Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) and senior LHP
Cole Creighton (Levittown, Pa.) combined to allow just six hits on Sunday night to lead the Stony Brook baseball team to a 6-3 victory over Nicholls State at Didier Field.
The victory for the Seawolves (3-0) earned the first series win of the young season and is the best start to a season since Stony Brook opened the 2012 campaign with four straight wins.
Herrmann went 5.0 innings and allowed two runs on two hits to picked up the victory, while Creighton pitched the final four innings of the game and allowed just one run on four hits and struck out four to earn his first career save.
Senior 3B
Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore RF
Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) each collected a pair of hits, while freshman CF
Cristian Montes (Pacoima, Calif.) and sophomore SS
Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) each drove in a run.
Turning Point
Trailing 2-1 after the first innings, Stony Brook took the lead for good with a pair of runs. SS
Nick Grande doubled and came around to score when CF
Cristian Montes singled up the middle to tie the game and Montes came around to score on a balk call to give the Seawolves a 3-2 lead.
