Wilson's Second HR of the Series Lifts the Seawolves to Series Win over Binghamton

STONY BROOK, N.Y.  – Sophomore RF Michael Wilson's (Colonia, N.J.) three-run home run in the bottom of the eight inning lifted the Stony Brook baseball team to a 7-5 victory in game three of the series against America East Conference rival Binghamton Sunday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.

The Seawolves (9-8, 2-1 AE) won the series over the Bearcats (4-11, 1-2 AE) by taking games one and three. Binghamton won game two 8-6 in 10 innings on Sunday after it was resumed on Sunday.

Senior LHP Kevin Kernan (Mahopac, N.Y.) picked up the win in game three by pitching a scoreless eighth inning, while senior RHP Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) earned his sixth save of the season with a one-tow-three ninth inning of work.

For the weekend, Wilson homered twice and drove in 10 runs.

Game Two Turning Point
After the game was suspended in entering the eighth inning, both Binghamton and Stony Brook failed to score in the eighth and ninth innings before the Bearcats scored two in the 10th to get the win.

Game Three Turning Point
Binghamton held a 5-3 lead entering the eight inning, but Stony Brook plated four runs, three of which came of Wilson's home run to right field, to take a 7-5 lead.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"In difficult weather conditions, both teams competed at a high level, but I couldn't be more proud of our guys with the way they just kept competing and competing the whole weekend. It is a great start to the conference schedule to get two out of three."
