LOWELL, Mass. – No. 1 Stony Brook women's lacrosse begins America East action on Saturday, March 24, traveling to UMass Lowell for a 12 p.m. contest.
No. 1 In The Polls
- Stony Brook women's lacrosse has been ranked No. 1 nationally in all three major polls for the fourth-straight week.
- After topping No. 20 Denver at LaValle Stadium in their 2018 home opener, the Seawolves earned the top spot in all three major polls for the first time in program history (IWLCA Coaches' Poll, Cascade/Inside Lacrosse, Nike/US Lacrosse), as announced on Monday, Feb. 26.
- Stony Brook has won seven-straight contests to begin the 2018 season, downing five nationally-ranked teams along the way. The Seawolves have outscored opponents 109-51 thus far.
Kylie Ohlmiller - IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week
- Senior attack Kylie Ohlmiller was named IWLCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the organization on Wednesday, March 21. Ohlmiller has an impressive 18 points over two contests last week, including a seven-goal performance in Stony Brook's win over No. 13 Towson at LaValle Stadium.
Scouting UMass Lowell
- The River Hawks are 2-5 so far in 2018, most recently falling at Bryant on Wednesday, March 21.
- Taylor Sokol has a team-high 18 goals, while Kendyl Finelli leads UMass Lowell in total scoring with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 total points.
- The Seawolves are 3-0 all-time vs. UMass Lowell, topping the River Hawks 20-4 in the last meeting between the two program's (April 29, 2017). Nine different Seawolves scored in the win at LaValle Stadium – Stony Brook's final regular season contest of the 207 season.
Head Coach Joe Spallina
- Seawolves' head coach Joe Spallina is currently seventh season with the program, owning a 110-20 overall record at Stony Brook.
- The engineer of the nation's best turnaround in 2012 and winningest coach in program history after only three seasons, Spallina has guided the Seawolves to a 33-2 record in America East action and five consecutive America East titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
- Under Spallina, Stony Brook has produced 12 IWLCA All-Americans, seven Tewaaraton nominees, one Tewaaraton finalist, five conference championships, five NCAA Tournament second-round berths and an NCAA quarterfinal appearance.
There's No Place Like Home
- The Seawolves have been dominant at LaValle Stadium over the last seven seasons, posting a 61-5 record at home (a .924 winning percentage) since the start of the 2012 season.
- Stony Brook went 11-0 at home in 2017 and has won 24-straight games at LaValle Stadium.
Dominant Defense
- The Seawolves currently have the nation's best defense, giving up just 7.29 goals per contests.
- Junior goalkeeper Anna Tesoriero owns a 7.25 goals-against average through seven games – which ranks No. 1 nationally.
Assists on Assists
- Stony Brook has assisted on 73 of 109 goals so far this season, ranking No. 1 nationally in helpers per contest (10.43). Taryn Ohlmiller (23 assists) ranks No. 1 nationally in individual assists per contest (3.29).
Limiting Miscues
- The Seawolves have recorded just 12.29 turnovers per game in the first seven contests of the season, which also ranks No. 1 nationally.

Stony Brook returns three 100-point scorers to its roster for the 2018 season:
Kylie leads the scoring so far for the Seawolves with 45 total points (31 goals, 14 assists), while
Taryn Ohlmiller (16 goals, 23 assists) has 39 points and
Courtney Murphy (26 goals, 12 assists) has 38 points.
2017 Season
- Stony Brook is coming off its best season in program history, going 20-2 in 2017. The Seawolves fell at Maryland in the NCAA Quarterfinal round after winning its fifth-straight America East title on May 7, 2017.
- The Seawolves won 20 games in a season for the first time in program history, topping Bryant and Northwestern in NCAA Tournament action.

Kylie Ohlmiller and
Courtney Murphy are moving closer to breaking Division I career statistical records:
- Kylie Ohlmiller now has 385 career points, needing just 60 more points to break the NCAA career record set by Maryland's Jen Adams (445). The senior also has 191 career assists now, needing 34 more to break the NCAA record set by Northwestern's Hannah Nielsen (224).
- Courtney Murphy now has 272 career goals, needing just 18 more goals to break the NCAA record set by Temple's Gail Cummings (289).

- Seven Stony Brook women's lacrosse players were tabbed Inside Lacrosse Preseason Division I All-Americans, the publication announced heading into the 2018 season.
- Courtney Murphy, Kylie Ohlmiller, and Brooke Gubitosi, were selected to the First Team, Taryn Ohlmiller, was awarded Third Team honors, and Keri McCarthy, Mackenzie Burns, and Anna Tesoriero, were named to the Honorable Mention squad.
