Solid Pitching Leads Seawolves to Fourth Straight Victory

STONY BROOK, N.Y.  – A solid performance by the Stony Brook baseball relief pitchers on Tuesday afternoon helped lead the Seawolves to a 5-3 victory over visiting LIU Brooklyn at Joe Nathan Field.

The win for the Seawolves (13-9) won for the fourth time in as many chances and improved to 7-0 all-time against the Blackbirds (10-10).

The Stony Brook pen tossed 7.2 innings of work on Tuesday and allowed just one run on five hits. Senior LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Mass.) led the way with 3.2 scoreless innings and three strikeouts, while sophomore RHP Aaron Glickstein (Dix Hills, N.Y.) threw 2.0 innings and picked up the win. Freshman RHP Brian Morrisey (Commack, N.Y.) and senior RHP Aaron Pinto (West Covina, Calif.) each tossed a perfect inning. Pinto's inning closed the game for his seventh save of the season.

Turning Point
With the score tied 2-2 entering the bottom of the third inning, Stony Brook plated two runs on two hits on an RBI single by sophomore RF Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) and a ground out by junior DH Brandon Alamo (Artesia, Calif.). The Seawolves would not surrender the lead after that.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"Sometimes you just have to grind out a win and that was today. We found a way to win. I give credit to LIU Booklyn. They did a solid job in big situations, but we pitched better as the game went on right down to Pinto, who was lights out for the save. We did enough offensively and played errorless defense to grind out the win."
