Five Seawolves Combined to One-Hit Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.  – Five Stony Brook baseball pitchers combined to allow just one hit in Tuesday's 6-0 victory over Iona at City Park.

Sophomore RHP Sam Turcotte (Toronto, Ontario) started and went 3.1 innings with just the one hit against him, while senior LHP Kevin Kernan (Mahopac, N.Y.) earned his third win of the season with 2.2 hitless innings, while freshmen RHPs Brian Morrisey (Commack, N.Y.) and Connor Clark (Manorville, N.Y.), along with senior RHP Nick Montefusco (Medford, N.J.) all tossed one hitless inning of work for the Seawolves (20-15).

Senior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) collected a triple and a double and drove in two runs to lead the offense.

Turning Point
The Seawolves broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning when freshman C John Tuccillo (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, reached second on an error, advanced to third on a fly out and then came in to score on an infield single by sophomore SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.). Honeyman's double added two more runs in the inning to give Stony Brook a 3-0 lead.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"It was good to see us get back to pitching and playing good defense again. The pitchers did a tremendous job today. Hopefully this win can get us back on track and have us ready for the upcoming series against UMBC."
