Wilson Pounds Out Three Doubles and Grande Adds Four Hits in Seawolves Loss at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CONN. – Sophomore RF Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) went three-for-three with three doubles and sophomore SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) added four hits for the Stony Brook baseball team, but the Seawolves fell to Fairfield 19-10 on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Baseball Diamond.
 
Turning Point
Fairfield plated six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning and added nine runs on six hits in the third inning to blow the game open.
 
Notes/Stats
  • Sophomore SS Nick Grande (Smithtown, N.Y.) swiped one base on Thursday for his 24th stolen base of the season to move him within 12 of the single season record of 36 held by Travis Jankowski.
  • Grande belted out four hits for his 15th multi-hit game of the season and his fourth four-plus hit game.
  • Senior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded two hits on Thursday for his team-leading 17th multi-hit game of the season.
  • Sophomore RF Michael Wilson (Colonia, N.J.) collected three hits on Thursday for his 12th multi-hit game of the season and his fourth three-hit game.
  • Junior DH Michael Russell (Staten Island, N.Y.) had a pair of hits on Thursday for his fourth multi-hit game of the season.
  • Freshman Tanner Cooper (Canandaigua, N.Y.) pinch hit in the eighth inning and singled into RF for his first career hit.
  • Stony Brook hit five double on Wednesday to bring the Seawolves' season total to 88 and remain among the nation's leaders.

Stony Brook will head up to Binghamton this weekend for a three-game America East Conference series that gets underway with a doubleheader on Saturday at Noon followed by a single game on Sunday at Noon.
