Herrmann's Complete Game Leads Seawolves to DH Split at Maine

ORONO, Maine  –Sophomore RHP Brian Herrmann (Northport, N.Y.) tossed a complete game and senior 3B Bobby Honeyman (Massapequa, N.Y.) posted seven hits to help the Stony Brook baseball team to a split of a doubleheader at Maine on Saturday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond.

The Seawolves (16-12, 5-3 AE) took game one 4-1 behind Herrmann's arm, while the Black Bears (9-20, 5-3 AE) earned a 4-2 win in game two.

Herrmann allowed just one run on six hits and struck out five in his nine-inning complete game an earned his fourth victory of the season.

Honeyman went 4-4 with a run scored, and RBI and a double in game one and was 3-3 in game two with a run scored.

Game One Turning Point
Maine held a 1-0 lead into the seventh inning after the Black Bears scored in the fourth inning, but Stony Brook plated two runs in the seventh inning when freshman C John Tuccillo (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) doubled to lead off the inning and come home to score on senior 3B Bobby Honeyman's (Massapequa, N.Y.) double. Sophomore 1B Chris Hamilton (Schenectady, N.Y.) singled two batters later to drive in Honeyman and give the Seawolves all the scoring they would need for the victory.

Game Two Turning Point
Stony Brook took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the second inning, but Maine came right back to score two runs on two hits to retake the lead.
