STONY BROOK, N.Y. – No. 1 Stony Brook women's lacrosse begins postseason action on Friday, May 4, squaring off with New Hampshire in the semifinal round of the 2018 America East Women's Lacrosse Championships at LaValle Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
 
America East Championships History
  • Stony Brook has won five-straight America East postseason titles under Head Coach Joe Spallina – looking to become the first program in America East Conference history to win six-straight titles.
  • The Seawolves are 11-4 in America East postseason history, and have seven regular season conference titles in program history.
Seawolves vs. Ranked Opponents
  • Stony Brook is 8-0 vs. ranked foes in 2018, outscoring ranked opponents 128-64 so far this year.
  • The Seawolves currently have the No. 1 non-conference adjusted RPI (.72491) in the nation.
No. 1 In The Polls
  • The program has been ranked No. 1 nationally in all three major Division I polls for 10-straight weeks.
  • Stony Brook has now won 17-straight contests so far in 2018, outscoring opponents 306-113.
  • Stony Brook currently ranks No. 1 nationally in six Division I major team statistics: points per game (29.59), scoring margin (+11.35), assists per game (11.59), shot percentage (.532), turnovers per game (11.71), and team defense (6.65 goals-allowed per contest). 
Kylie Ohlmiller Sets NCAA Career Points, Assists Records
  • Senior Kylie Ohlmiller tallied eight points on two goals and six assists on Saturday, April 21 vs. UMBC, becoming the NCAA Division I career leader in points and assists.
  • She broke the NCAA Division I career points record in the first half of play, surpassing the previous record set by Maryland's Jen Adams (445). She became the NCAA Division I career assist leader in the second half of play, breaking the previous record for helpers set by Northwestern's Hannah Nielsen (224). 
  • Ohlmiller now has 70 goals and 58 assists for 128 total points in 2018 – which ranks No. 1 nationally.
Courtney Murphy Shatters NCAA Career Goals Mark
  • After scoring five times at Hartford on Thursday, April 5, Courtney Murphy broke the NCAA Division I career record for total goals scored.
  • Courtney Murphy now has 323 career goals, breaking the previous record set by Temple's Gail Cummings (289). The redshirt senior is also the first player in NCAA Division I history to surpass the 300 career goals mark.
Scouting New Hampshire
  • New Hampshire enters postseason action with a 6-10 overall record, going 4-3 in league play to earn the No. 4 seed in the America East Championship.
  • Krissy Schafer (40 goals) and Carly Wooters (33 goals, 7 assists) lead the way for the Wildcats with 40 points each.
  • Stony Brook is 12-7 all-time vs. UNH. The Seawolves won the matchup between the two contests this year, 20-6, on April 15 at LaValle Stadium.
  • The Seawolves squared off with New Hampshire in the America East Semifinals last year, as well, topping the Wildcats 20-3 to advance to the conference championship contest.
Head Coach Joe Spallina
  • Seawolves' head coach Joe Spallina is currently in his seventh season with the program, owning a 120-20 overall record at Stony Brook
  • The engineer of the nation's best turnaround in 2012 and winningest coach in program history after only three seasons, Spallina has guided the Seawolves to five consecutive America East titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • Under Spallina, Stony Brook has produced 12 IWLCA All-Americans, seven Tewaaraton nominees, one Tewaaraton finalist, five conference championships, five NCAA Tournament second-round berths and an NCAA quarterfinal appearance.

  • The Seawolves lead the nation in points per game (29.59) and average scoring margin (+11.35)
  • Three Seawolves rank in the Top 10 nationally in total points. Kylie Ohlmiller ranks No. 1 nationally (118), Courtney Murphy ranks No. 3 (97), and Taryn Ohlmiller ranks No. 10 (84)
Dominant Defense
  • The Seawolves currently have the nation's best defense, giving up just 6.65 goals per contests.
  • Junior goalkeeper Anna Tesoriero owns a 7.04 goals-against average through 17 games – which ranks No. 1 nationally and best in the America East.
Assists on Assists
  • Stony Brook has assisted on 197 of 306 goals so far this season, ranking No. 1 nationally in helpers per contest (11.59). 
Limiting Miscues
  • The Seawolves have recorded just 11.71 turnovers per game in the first 17 contests of the season, which also ranks No. 1 nationally.
Dangerous on the Draw
  • Keri McCarthy ranks No. 9 nationally, and No. 1 in the America East in draw controls per contest (7.21)
  • McCarthy tallied 16 draw controls – a new single-game program record – on March 30, 2018 vs. Vermont
  • The junior broke the single-season program record for draw wins in the Seawolves' latest win vs. Penn State. She now has 117 draw wins in 2018, a number that surpassed her own record of 106 draw wins in 2017.
There's No Place Like Home
  • The Seawolves have been dominant at LaValle Stadium over the last seven seasons, posting a 67-5 record at home (a .929 winning percentage) since the start of the 2012 season.
  • Stony Brook went 11-0 at home in 2017, and has now won 30-straight games at LaValle Stadium.
Long Island Three (#LI3)
Stony Brook returns three 100-point scorers to its roster for the 2018 season: 2017 Season
  • Stony Brook is coming off its best season in program history, going 20-2 in 2017. The Seawolves fell at Maryland in the NCAA Quarterfinal round after winning its fifth-straight America East title on May 7, 2017.
  • The Seawolves won 20 games in a season for the first time in program history, topping Bryant and Northwestern in NCAA Tournament action.
