STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's soccer team continues America East action this week with its first conference road game on Thursday night at Albany, before returning home to host Vermont on Sunday. The Seawolves bounced back last week, knocking off Delaware State 3-0 before defeating Maine 3-2. The win over the Hornets was Stony Brook's fourth shutout victory of the season.
Seawolves Notes
- Freshman
Tatum Kauka (Wahiawa, Hawaii) was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday, after scoring the game-tying goal in the final minute of the first half to position Stony Brook for victory over Maine.
- The Seawolves topped Maine on Sunday, 3-2, earning their first conference-opening victory since the 2013 season.
- Stony Brook will look to avenge last year's regular-season losses to both opponents this week in the final two games of the regular season.
- The last time Stony Brook and Vermont met was at LaValle Stadium in the America East title game last year, as the No. 5 Seawolves topped the No. 6 Catamounts 2-1 to claim the championship and return to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Seawolves made it back-to-back 4-0 victories, topping Wagner and Iona by the same margin.

Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) and freshman
Mari Brenden (Oslo, Norway) earned America East weekly honors the second week of the season, after helping lift the Seawolves past Seton Hall. Manner was named Defensive Player of the Week after notching her first shutout of the year, while Brenden garnered Rookie of the Week honors for scoring the game-winner against the Pirates.
- The Seawolves started the season with six-straight road games, facing six teams from three different high-major conferences: Pac-12 (Oregon, Oregon State), ACC (No. 20 Notre Dame, Boston College) and BIG EAST (Seton Hall, St. John's).

Sofia Manner set a new career high with 12 save at Oregon State. She matched her previous best with nine stops in the first half. This was the first time she has reached double figures int he category.
- Stony Brook was selected to finish second in the America East this season, behind New Hampshire.
- The Seawolves earned made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013 last year, after winning the America East Championship.
Scouting Albany
- Albany is coming off of a week off after battling to a 2-2 draw at Cornell last Tuesday.
- The Great Danes boast a 6-4-1 record entering their America East opener.
- Albany strung together three straight wins, capping the streak off with a 3-1 win over Northeastern. Dartmouth stopped the run, topping Albany 3-2 prior to the tie.
- Mariah Williams leads the way with eight goals on the season, while Caroline Kopp adds four assists.
- Andrea Leitner has a 6-3-1 record this season with a 1.47 GAA and .681 save percentage.
Scouting Vermont
- Vermont enters the week at 3-5-2 on the year, 1-0-0 in the America East after topping Binghamton 1-0 in its opener Sunday.
- The Catamounts will host Hartford Thursday night, before traveling to Long Island Sunday.
- Vermont started the season 0-4-1, snapping the skid with a 1-0 win at Sacred Heart.
- Freshman keeper Lydia Kessel was named America East Defensive Player of the Week after picking up back-to-back shutouts in her first two starts of the season. She boasts a 2-0 record in four appearances, letting up just one goal and making 13 saves.
- Aly Spencer leads the team with three goals, while Brooke Jenkins, who scored the game-winner against the Bearcats, adds two goals and one assist.
