Stony Brook Drops Season Finale

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Stony Brook men's soccer team fell to UMBC, 4-1 on Wednesday night from Retriever Soccer Park. With the result, the Seawolves finish the year at 4-11-2 (1-6-0 AE) while UMBC concludes its season at 6-9-1 (1-5-1 AE).

Highlights
  • Sophomore Cameron Bonfils (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took the first shot of the evening, missing the target in the third minute.
  • Jon Bell opened the scoring for the Retrievers in the 16th minute with his first goal of the season.
  • Senior Mark Irvine (Southampton, England) took Stony Brook's first shot on goal of the night in the 22nd minute but his attempt was saved.
  • UMBC extended its lead on a goal in the 27th minute from Dadi Ingason.
  • The Retrievers scored twice more in the 68th and 70th minute. Both goals were scored by Tre Pulliam.
  • Sophomore Jack Valderrabano (New York, N.Y.) notched his first goal of the year in the 86th minute.

  • Irvine dished out an assist, his team-leading third of the year.
  • Valderrabano's goal was the second of his career.
