STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook football head coach Chuck Priore announced the team captains for the 2020 season on Monday as QB Tyquell Fields (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac), OL Anthony Catapano (Franklin Square, N.Y./H Frank Carey), DB TJ Morrison (Yonkers, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and DB Augie Contressa (Commack, N.Y./Commack).

All four will be redshirt seniors in 2020 and were elected by their teammates last week.
 
Fields, the starting QB for all 12 of the Seawolves games in 2019, put together one of the best statistical seasons in school history. His 2,471 passing yards were the second most in Stony Brook history, while his total offense number of 2,809 is the best in school history. Fields tossed for 16 touchdowns and rushed for four more that included the 50-yard scramble late in the fourth quarter to beat Rhode Island. He also led the Seawolves on two other game-tying or game-winning fourth-quarter drives in 2019.
 
Catapano played in 35 games over his first three seasons. In 2019 he played in all 12 games and started nine games at center to help anchor the line that allowed just 17 sacks in over 330 passing attempts and paved the way for Stony Brook backs to average 201.2 rushing yards per game.
 
Morrison, a high school teammate of Fields, has started 23 games in his career at corner back and played in 36 contests. He has recorded 97 total tackles during his career with a pair of interceptions and 17 pass-breakups. In 2019, Morrison made 40 tackles with 31 solo stops, a sack, an interception and seven pass-break-ups.
 
Contressa has started 24 consecutive games with 37 career games played. His 88 total tackles with 10.5 tackles for a loss in 2019 led the Seawolves on his way to earning second team All-CAA Football honors. For his career, Contressa has collected 189 total tackles with 22.0 tackles for loss and 7.0 sacks.

These four captains and the rest of the Seawolves get back to work on the practice field this spring on March 24 with the Spring Game scheduled for April 25.
