STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The Stony Brook men's track and field team competed in its fifth meet of 2019 at the Fastrack National Invitational, hosted by the Staten Island Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility on Friday. The day was highlighted by
Luke Coulter who broke the school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.44.
Coach Ronan's Thoughts
"Luke was certainly the star of the day, he ran a perfect tactical race, positioned himself well throughout the race and ran confidently to the finish line. This is the type of performance we have been waiting to see from him, he has shown flashes of what he is capable of in the past, now that he has put it together we look forward to him kicking on and producing this type of performances more consistently," said head coach
Andy Ronan.
"There were other competitive efforts throughout the team, the guys in the 3000m and Rob Becker (mile) are making progress towards championship level efforts. But like every team we still have a few athletes that need to get better in next two weeks if they are going to contribute at the AE meet," added Ronan.
