Stony Brook Begins Home Stand on Saturday Against Marist

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Looking to build on the momentum of Tuesday night's thrilling win at Hofstra, the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team returns home to begin a three-game home stand on Saturday when they welcome Marist into Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Faceoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.

The Seawolves (2-1) edged Hofstra on Tuesday, 11-10, behind a career-high five goals from junior attacker Tom Haun. The Red Foxes (1-2) picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday, 14-13, at Hartford.

SEAWOLVES NOTES
• Stony Brook, the co-regular season America East Conference champions in 2018, were slated second in the preseason conference poll selected by the coaches. The Seawolves received three first-place votes and 32 points to fall just behind UAlbany's 33 points and three first-place votes.
• Junior Tom Haun leads the Seawolves with nine goals through the first three games of the season. His first of a career-best five goals in the win at Hofstra was the 50th of his career.
 • Sophomore Mike McCannell dished out a career-best four assists in the win at Hofstra and owns a team-high six assists this season.
• Junior Michael Bollinger is the reigning America East Defender of the Week after he recorded 12 saves in the win at Brown. He also stopped nine Hofstra shots on Tuesday to improve to 2-1 in net this season.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• Junior attacker Tom Haun's ive goals, including the game-winner with 1:20 left in the fourth quarter, help lift Stony Brook to a 11-10 hard fought victory over Hofstra at James M. Shuart Stadium on Tuesday night.  
• Haun's five goals were a career-high, while junior goalkeeper Michael Bollinger recorded nine big saves for the Seawolves.
• Sophomore midfielder Patrick Kaschalk and junior midfielder Tom Dugan both added a pair of goals each and sophomore midfielder Mike McCannell tallied a career-best four assists in the victory over the Pride.

SCOUTING MARIST
• The Red Foxes snapped a two-game skid with a 14-13 victory at Hartford on Tuesday.
• Marist is in the midst of a season-opening five game road swing and will complete the trip next Friday at North Carolina.
• Ten different players have scored at least a goal for the Red Foxes with Joe Teirney and Jake Weinman leading the way with six each.

SERIES INFO
• This will mark the 20th meeting between Stony Brook and Marist.
• The Seawolves hold a 13-6 series advantage, but Marist has claimed four the last five meetings.
• The schools have not played since the 2016 season.
• Stony Brook also holds a 9-3 series lead in games played in Stony Brook.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST THE RED FOXES
• Marist edged Stony Brook 10-9 in overtime on April 12, 2016 in LaValle Stadium.   
• The Red Foxes sent the game to OT with a goal with 13 second remaining and then won it with 30 seconds remaining in the overtime period.
