Seawolves Travel Across the Sound to Open AE Play at Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team opens America East Conference play this Saturday when they travel across the Long Island Sound to face Hartford. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.

The Seawolves (3-3) are coming off a 9-8 victory over visiting Bryant last Saturday that concluded a three-game home stand. The Hawks (0-6) fell to Sacred Heart at home last Saturday.



SERIES INFO
• This will mark the 33rd meeting between the two conference foes.
• Stony Brook owns a 25-7 series lead that includes seven straight wins over Hartford.  
 • The Seawolves have a 12-3 series lead in games played in West Hartford.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST HARTFORD
• Stony Brook defeated Hartford 10-8 in LaValle Stadium on March 24, 2018.   
Wayne White and Tom Haun each netted a pair of goals for the Seawolves.
Michael Bollinger recorded eight saves in goal for Stony Brook. 

SEAWOLVES NOTES
• Stony Brook, the co-regular season America East Conference champions in 2018, were slated second in the preseason conference poll selected by the coaches. The Seawolves received three first-place votes and 32 points to fall just behind UAlbany's 33 points and three first-place votes.
• Junior Tom Haun leads the Seawolves with 12 goals through the first five games of the season. His first of a career-best five goals in the win at Hofstra was the 50th of his career.
• Haun earned the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 4 following his week with six goals and two assists that included his five-goal night at Hofstra.
 • Junior Michael Bollinger was named the America East Defender of the Week on Feb. 25 after he recorded 12 saves in the win at Brown. He also stopped nine Hofstra shots.
• Junior Chris Pickel Jr. scored the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining to defeated Bryant and was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 11. He tallied a total of five goals during that week.
• Senior LSM Ryland Rees has been named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Watch List.

SCOUTING HARTFORD
• The Hawks enter the America East Conference opener with a 0-6 record
• 12 different players have scored at least a goal for Hartford, with eight of them having at least three goals.
• Dylan Jinks leads the Hawks with 23 total goals and 28 points.

LAST TIME OUT
• Junior Chris Pickel Jr. scored on a rebound with 16 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give Stony Brook a 9-8 victory over Bryant last Saturday.
• Freshman Layton Harrell and Pickel Jr. each posted two goals for the Seawolves, while junior Michael Bollinger recorded a career-best 16 saves in net.

Stony Brook returns home for a pair of conference games in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves host UMBC on March 23 at 2:30 p.m. and Binghamton on March 29 at 7 p.m.
