Seawolves Return to LaValle to Host UMBC

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team returns to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium to host UMBC on Saturday in an America East Conference battle that gets underway at 2:30 p.m. The game is the second half of a double header with the Seawolves women's lacrosse team. One ticket will gain access to both games.

The Seawolves (3-4, 0-1 AE) are returning home following last Saturday's tough 12-11 conference-opening loss at Hartford. UMBC (1-5, 0-1 AE) is coming off an overtime home loss to Vermont last week.

SERIES INFO
• This will mark the 25th meeting between the two conference foes.
• UMBC owns a 14-10 series advantage, but Stony Brook has won three of the last four meetings.  
 • The Retrievers have won six of the previous 10 games played at Stony Brook.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST UMBC
• The Stony Brook held on to top UMBC, 7-6, at UMBC Stadium on March 18, 2018.
• Four Seawolves notched multi-point performances in the low-scoring affair as both teams opened league play.

SEAWOLVES NOTES
• Stony Brook, the co-regular season America East Conference champions in 2018, were slated second in the preseason conference poll selected by the coaches. The Seawolves received three first-place votes and 32 points to fall just behind UAlbany's 33 points and three first-place votes.
• Junior Tom Haun leads the Seawolves with 13 goals through the first seven games of the season. His first of a career-best five goals in the win at Hofstra was the 50th of his career.
• Haun earned the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 4 following his week with six goals and two assists that included his five-goal night at Hofstra.
 • Junior Michael Bollinger was named the America East Defender of the Week on Feb. 25 after he recorded 12 saves in the win at Brown. He also stopped nine Hofstra shots.
• Junior Chris Pickel Jr. scored the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining to defeated Bryant and was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 11. He tallied a total of five goals during that week.
• Senior LSM Ryland Rees has been named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Watch List.

LAST TIME OUT
• Junior attacker Connor Grippe netted his second career hat trick for Stony Brook, but the Seawolves fell 12-11 to Hartford in the America East Conference opener on last Saturday at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.
• The Hawks opened the game with three quick goals and the Seawolves were forced to play catch-up the rest of the game. Junior Michael Bollinger did record 15 saves in net. 

SCOUTING UMBC
• The Retrievers are 1-5 overall and 0-1 in America East play after dropping an overtime decision against Vermont last Saturday.
• 12 different players have scored at least a goal for UMBC and four players have double-digit goals
• Junior Ryan Frawley leads UMBC with 15 goals and 18 points.

ON DECK
Stony Brook will host Binghamton on Friday at 7 p.m. in LaValle Stadium.
