Seawolves Travel to Queens to Faceoff with St. John's

QUEENS, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team takes a two-game winning streak into a non-conference game at St. John's on Tuesday. The game, a Desilva Memorial Field, will begin at 3 p.m. 

The Seawolves (5-4, 2-1 AE) are coming off a 13-6 victory over Binghamton on Friday night. The Red Storm (4-5, 0-1 BIG EAST) fell at home in overtime to Providence in their conference opener. 
 

SERIES INFO

• This will mark the 11th meeting between the two in-state foes. 

• Stony Brook owns a 6-4 series lead and have won three straight.  

 • The Seawolves also lead 3-2 in games played at St. John's.  

LAST TIME AGAINST ST. JOHN'S

• Stony Brook edged out St. John's as it earned an 8-6 win at LaValle Stadium on April 3, 2018. • The game was close throughout but three unanswered second-half goals helped secure the victory. 

Tom Haun scored two of this second-half goals, while Chris Pickel Jr. added the third. 

 

SEAWOLVES NOTES 

• Stony Brook, the co-regular season America East Conference champions in 2018, were slated second in the preseason conference poll selected by the coaches. The Seawolves received three first-place votes and 32 points to fall just behind UAlbany's 33 points and three first-place votes. 

• Junior Tom Haun leads the Seawolves with 23 goals through the first nine games of the season. His first of a career-best five goals in the win at Hofstra was the 50th of his career. 

Haun earned the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 4 following his week with six goals and two assists that included his five-goal night at Hofstra. 

 • Junior Michael Bollinger was named the America East Defender of the Week on Feb. 25 after he recorded 12 saves in the win at Brown. He also stopped nine Hofstra shots.

• Junior Chris Pickel Jr. scored the game-winning goal with 16 seconds remaining to defeated Bryant and was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on March 11. He tallied a total of five goals during that week. 

• Freshman Layton Harrell netted a career-best three goals for his first hat trick in the win over UMBC to earn the America East Rookie of the Week honor on March 23. 

• Senior LSM Ryland Rees has been named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Watch List. 

LAST TIME OUT

• Junior goalkeeper Michael Bollinger's stellar performance in net and junior attacker Tom Haun's career-high six goals helped Stony Brook to a 13-6 victory over America East foe Binghamton on Friday night in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.   

• The Seawolves spread the wealth offensively. Eight different players scored a goal including Haun, while Bollinger posted 13 saves in goal to secure the victory over the Bearcats. 
 

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S

• The Red Storm are 4-5 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play after falling to Providence in OT on Saturday

• 13 different players have scored at least a goal for St. John's and five players have netted double figure goals.

• Senior Declan Swartwood leads St. John's with 21 goals, while junior Mike Maden has a team-best 35 points. 

ON DECK

Stony Brook will play their final non-conference game of the regular season on Saturday when they welcome Princeton to Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
