Men's Basketball to Host Open Practice July 31

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's basketball program and head coach Geno Ford are pleased to announce an open practice for all fans on Wednesday, July 31, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Island Federal Arena. All fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to a home game for the upcoming season.

Season ticket holders for the 2019-20 season (buy or renew yours NOW!) will have a special meet and greet session starting at 6 p.m. in the VIP Suite of the arena and then all in attendance will be able to get a first-hand look at the Seawolves preparing for their overseas trip to Spain and France and the upcoming campaign.

Stony Brook returns three of its top four scorers in league play from a season ago, led by junior Elijah Olaniyi (Newark, N.J.), who averaged 12.1 per game, and redshirt-junior Andrew Garcia (Harlem, N.Y.) who had nine points and six rebounds per night in America East play during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Seawolves are coming off a 24-win season and are poised for a deep run under Ford, who is entering his first year as head coach of the program. The season opens on November 5 when the Yale Bulldogs come to Island Federal Arena. It will be the first time since the 2016-17 season that Stony Brook opens the campaign at home and the third time an Ivy League school opens the year in the arena since it debuted for the 2014-15 season.
