Three Seawolves Tabbed as Preseason All-CAA Football Honorees

BALTIMORE -- Seniors Sam Kamara (Carteret, N.J.) and Isaiah White (Godron Heights, N.Y.) along with sophomore Kyle Nunez (East Islip, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook football team, were named to the 2019 CAA Football Preseason All-Conference team, it was announced Tuesday at the conference's Media Day at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens.

Kamara, one of the anchors of the Seawolves' defensive line, collected 36 total tackles and led the team with 6.5 sacks to go with 9.0 TFLs in 2018 on his way to earning second team All-CAA Football.

White, a redshirt in 2018, is back on the offensive side of the ball in 2019 as a running back. He was named preseason all-conference as a specialist. In 2017, White received second team All-CAA Football honors as a specialist.

Nunez, one of the three returning offensive linemen for Stony Brook, was named second team All-CAA Football last season as well as Freshman All-American by HERO Sports.

In addition to the Preseason All-Conference Team, the CAA also released the Preseason Poll, where the Seawolves were picked to finish sixth out of 12 teams. Coming off a very successful 2018 campaign, Stony Brook posted seven wins and returned to the FCS Playoffs for the second straight season.

James Madison received 20 of the 24 first-place votes to take the top spot as voted on by the leagues' coaches and media relations contacts. Towson picked up three first-place votes to sit second, while the defending league champion Maine got one first-place vote to place third. Elon and Delaware also placed ahead of the Seawolves, while New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Villanova, Richmond, William & Mary and UAlbany round out the predicted order of finish.

Stony Brook opens the 2019 home schedule Thursday night August 29th vs. Bryant. The Seawolves home slate at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium also includes in-state rivals Wagner and Fordham in September. CAA Football opponents come to town beginning October 5th for a Homecoming matchup vs. James Madison. Other conference games include New Hampshire, Towson and UAlbany.
