Wincott and Coleman Pair Up as Stony Brook's SNY Broadcast Team

STONY BROOK, N.Y.  – Long Island native Jonny Wincott will be joined by former NFL standout Erik Coleman to form the broadcast team for Stony Brook football's inaugural season on SNY in 2019.

Last week the athletics department announced a new television partnership with SportsNet New York (SNY) starting with the upcoming 2019 football season. SNY will feature five home Seawolves football games, beginning with next Saturday's contest against Wagner in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST.

Wincott, a 2016 graduate from Syracuse University's Newhouse School, started his career behind the microphone for both SU football and basketball  - including the Orange's run to the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four in 2016.  In addition, Jonny's college experience brought him to the ice, where he often served as radio play-by-play for the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Wincott's efforts were recognized with a 2015 Syracuse Press Club Award and a 2016 accolade from the STAA's Jim Nantz Award.

Since graduating, Wincott has performed duties as the radio voice of Binghamton University women's basketball and TV Voice of Quinnipiac University basketball. Most recently, Wincott completed two seasons as the radio broadcaster for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the New York Mets Double-A Affiliate.

Coleman is a former NFL standout, active philanthropist and sought-after sports analyst who uses his on-field experience, extensive knowledge of sports and robust personality to bring new and exciting insight to fans young and old.

After a stellar collegiate career at Washington State, Coleman was drafted in the fifth round by the New York Jets in 2004 and played nine seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions. Coleman's highlights in the NFL include 653 career total tackles, 11 interceptions, four forced fumbles and 37 passes defended. He also served as the player-elected NFL Players Association team representative five out of his nine years in the league.

Since his retirement in 2013, Coleman has become a TV analyst for SNY's "Jets Post Game Live!", "Jets Extra Point", "Jets Nation" and SNY's Jets Draft show. He is the current host of SiriusXM's NFL Radio show "Sunday Kickoff", ESPN NY's "Inside the Jets" and CBS NY's "Jets Late Night." He also frequently appears as a sports commentator on numerous sports shows and network programs such as Hannity on Fox, Closing Bell with Liz Claman on Fox Business, ABC, PIX 11, CBS, ESPN Radio and WFAN, to name a few. In addition to his on-camera career, Coleman hit the airwaves as an analyst for the Stony Brook football radio broadcast team in 2015 and most recently, Sirius XM.

In addition to next week's game against Wagner, Wincott and Coleman will call Stony Brook's four CAA Football games at home that include James Madison on Oct. 5, New Hampshire on Oct. 12, Towson on Nov. 9 and the regular season finale against UAlbany on Nov. 23.
