Nick Courtney and Mason Zimmerman Selected to the 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Nick Courtney and Mason Zimmerman added to their list of career accolades on Wednesday.

The National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame named the two senior members of the Stony Brook football team to the 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is composed of college football players from all divisions who maintained at least a cumulative 3.2 GPA throughout their college careers. All of those recognized had to complete their final year of eligibility in 2019 and were starters or significant contributors to their teams.

An impressive 1,432 players from 364 schools qualified for membership in the society's 14th year.

Courtney completed his final season as the Seawolves place kicker in 2019. He made 10 of his 12 field goal attempts during the season, which included a 22-yarder as time expired to defeat fifth-ranked Villanova and a career-long 47-yarder at the end of regulation that sent Stony Brook into overtime against second-ranked James Madison. He finished his career with 16 made field goals, sixth most in school history.

Zimmerman started 43 straight games on the offensive line for the Seawolves. Earlier in the year, Zimmerman earned the NFF's Division I Scholar-Athlete Award for the Suffolk County chapter.

Courtney and Zimmerman were two of the 24 recipients from CAA Football schools.
