Dan Rickard Recognized as Top Five America East Assistant by Jeff Goodman, Stadium

CHICAGO — Ranked by his peers, Seawolves assistant Dan Rickard stands in an elite group of America East assistants.

Entering his 11th year with the program, Rickard was ranked as a Top America East Men's Basketball Assistant Coach by Jeff Goodman of Stadium.

"First and foremost, Dan is a great person," Seawolves head coach Geno Ford said of the longest tenured coach on his staff. "He can excel in many areas, which is what makes him so good at his job. He does an excellent job [in] recruiting, scouting, player development, and also with in-game adjustments. He is very deserving of recognition as he is simply a major asset for us, and is also one of the finest human beings you could ever be around."

Rickard was critical in leading the Seawolves' ascent in the 2010s, helping the program to the NCAA Tournament in 2016, along with four America East regular season titles and three postseason NIT berths.

He re-joined the staff this season and was crucial to the revamping of the Stony Brook offense, helping the squad break the program's single-season, 3-point record in his first year back on the men's basketball bench.

"Dan was an integral part of building Stony Brook into one of the best programs in the league," an America East assistant told Stadium. "He's an excellent evaluator and has infinite knowledge of all the players and teams in the league. He's a terrific resource for Geno."

The Seawolves are coming off their eighth top two America East finish in the last nine years, the only America East squad to achieve that. They also won 20 games for the seventh time over the last nine campaigns.
