ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A pair of Stony Brook alums brought home Major League Lacrosse's Steinfeld Trophy on Sunday.
Justin Pugal and Challen Rogers helped lead the Boston Cannons to their first MLL title since 2011 with a 13-10 win over the Denver Outlaws at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Maryland.
The Cannons took the lead, 8-6, on a two-point goal from Pugal and remained in command the rest of the afternoon.
Rogers also scored in the championship game.
Pugal appeared in 60 games with Stony Brook from 2016 through 2019. He earned a spot on the America East Championship all-tournament team as a junior.
Rogers was a three-time All-America East first-team selection during his Seawolves career, which spanned 2013 through 2016. He was a USILA All-American as a senior. He ranks second in program history in assists with 115 and fourth in points with 205.
