STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook University softball head coach Megan T. Bryant has announced the 2022 schedule on Thursday. The schedule is highlighted by four non-conference tournaments, matchups against three 2021 NCAA Tournament teams, and 20 home contests.
 
"The 2022 schedule is challenging and exciting for our team. It gives our players the chance to grow and contend against very good competition. It will certainly prepare us well for conference play and our goal of winning the America East Championship," said coach Bryant.
 
Stony Brook begins the 2022 season down south as it is set to compete in the FIU Tournament from February 25-27. The Seawolves' season opener comes against Drexel on Friday, February 25, at 2 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. meeting with FIU. The Seawolves will also face South Dakota and Brown in the season opening tournament.
 
Following the trip to Florida, Stony Brook heads to the West Coast to take part in the San Diego Classic hosted by San Diego and San Diego State from March 4-6. The tournament is highlighted by meetings with Utah State, San Diego, 2021 Big West Champions Long Beach State, and San Diego State.
 
After the West Coast trip, the Seawolves are back in Florida for the USF Tournament from March 11-13. Stony Brook takes on UMass, Ohio State, 2021 NCAA Tournament team South Florida, and Army down in Tampa.
 
The final non-conference tournament takes place in the tri-state area as the Seawolves travel to Piscataway, N.J. for the Rutgers Tournament. The Seawolves make the short trip to New Jersey from March 19-20, and have Fairfield, Drexel, Saint Peter's, and Holy Cross on the docket.
 
Stony Brook has scheduled several notable non-conference opponents that it will face outside of tournament play. The Seawolves go head-to-head with Fordham on March 16, in the Bronx, and renew the Battle of Long Island with Hofstra on March 22 (at Hofstra), and April 28 (at Stony Brook).
 
The Seawolves will see three Big East opponents in 2022. Stony Brook first makes the trip to Queens to face St. John's on March 29, and then it travels to the Island on April 5. The Seawolves then play host to Seton Hall for a doubleheader on April 6, followed by a doubleheader at Providence on April 9.
 
Stony Brook begins America East conference play on April 2, when it hosts Maine for a doubleheader. The Seawolves and Black Bears conclude the opening series the following day on April 3. Stony Brook will take on the reigning America East Champions UMBC in Baltimore for a doubleheader on April 13. The Seawolves and Retrievers meet again for a single game on April 27.
 
The Seawolves square off with in-state rival UAlbany on April 30 and on May 1. The teams play a doubleheader on April 30 and will finish the series with a single-game on May 1.
 
The 2022 America East Tournament is set to take place at University Field on the campus of Stony Brook. Stony Brook serves as the host of the six-team, double elimination conference tournament from May 11-14.
