STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook football team will have a busy 2021. And that's a welcome sight.

In addition to a six-game spring regular season that begins March 6 against Villanova at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium, CAA Football members announced their full fall schedules on Wednesday morning.

The Seawolves 11-game fall slate is highlighted by a trip to face Oregon on Sept. 18.

It will mark the first time Stony Brook will play a Pac-12 program and the farthest west the Seawolves have ever traveled. The previous western-most game came on Nov. 6, 1999 against the University of San Diego.

Oregon went 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Pac-12 during an abbreviated 2020 season, capped by a 34-17 loss to No. 10 Iowa State in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.

Stony Brook, along with other CAA members, begin a six-game conference schedule in March after not competing in the fall. Even before any playoff appearances, the Seawolves are scheduled to play 17 games during the calendar year.

The Seawolves have played at least once FBS opponent for the past 10 fall seasons — Utah State (2019), Air Force (2018), USF (2017), Temple (2016), Toledo (2015), UConn (2014), Buffalo (2013), Syracuse and Army (2012), UTEP and Buffalo (2011) and USF (2010).

Stony Brook defeated Army, 23-3, at West Point on Sept. 29, 2012 behind 220 total yards and two touchdowns from Miguel Maysonet. The 2015 game against Toledo was canceled at halftime after a three-hour weather delay and is not considered an official contest by the NCAA.
