STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Fresh off claiming The Golden Apple in a rivalry game with UAlbany, the Stony Brook football team has bulked up for the fall.

The Seawolves have added transfers Donte Small from Morgan State and Davon Bomar from Coastal Carolina.

Small, a 6-foot, 195-pound defensive back from Union, N.J., played as an undergrad at Morgan State. He recorded four interceptions in 16 career games — one returned 45 yards for a touchdown. He was a first-team All-MEAC selection in 2018 as a sophomore.

Small played two varsity seasons at Paramus Catholic, leading his team to a New Jersey State title as a senior.

Bomar, a 6-3, 250-pound defensive end from Havre de Grace, Md., arrives from Coastal Carolina. He appeared in seven games over two seasons, one of which counted as a redshirt year.

Stony Brook had recruited Bomar out of Bel Air High School in Maryland. And the relationship paid dividends when Bomar elected to transfer.

He was selected to the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference-Chesapeake Division first team as a junior in 2017.

Currently in the midst of a bye week, Stony Brook returns to action April 10 at New Hampshire.
