STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Brian Abosi started every game for UMass football during its abbreviated fall season in 2020.
Now, the 6-foot-8, 335-pound right tackle will be joining Stony Brook as a graduate transfer for the fall.
Abosi hails from Worcester, Mass., where he played for St. John's High School and then a post-graduate year at Worcester Academy.
He was recruited by Stony Brook out of high school and even attended a Seawolves game at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium back in 2016.
He started the opening seven games of the 2019 season for the Minutemen as a redshirt sophomore.
Abosi's older brother Eze and Stony Brook coordinator of player personnel
Patrick Hatch were teammates and classmates at Union College.
Stony Brook, which recently completed a four-game spring season, returns to game action Sept. 4 against New Hampshire.
"We are excited about Brian's signing," Stony Brook head coach
Chuck Priore said. "As a graduate transfer, we are getting someone who cares about academics and has lots of on-the-field experience. He will help lead us to great things for the '21 season."
