STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Anthony Roberts was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team after his first season of college basketball. After two seasons at Kent State, he then spent last season at St. Bonaventure.
Now, Roberts is headed to Long Island.
Roberts is the newest signee for the Stony Brook men's basketball team.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard appeared in 61 games, including 21 starts, with Kent State. He then appeared in three games last season with the Bonnies.
As a sophomore with the Golden Flashes, Roberts averaged 12.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting nearly 37 percent from three-point range (49-for-134). A Detroit native, he scored at least a dozen points in seven of the final eight games during the 2019-20 season.
"We are super-excited to add Anthony," Stony Brook coach
Geno Ford said. "He is an electric talent with a lot of offensive ability. We expect that he will be a very productive player on both ends, but he certainly has some gifts for scoring the ball at all three levels.
"He is a veteran guy, who has been a part of two winning teams. So it should be a pretty easy transition for him to be a part of our program."
