STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook softball heads into the America East Tournament with some new hardware.
Dawn Bodrug, Jordyn Nowakowski, Jourdin Hering and Melissa Rahrich all were named first-team all-conference, while Julianna Sanzone and Kyra McFarland earned All-Rookie Team honors.
Bodrug and Nowakowski also were named All-Academic.
The Seawolves enter the double-elimination conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and will face second-seeded UAlbany on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Baltimore.
Bodrug is 15-7 with a 1.56 ERA and Rahrich is 8-6 with a 2.27 ERA in the circle.
Rahrich, a two-time America East Player of the Year, also is hitting a team-leading .386 with six homers and 30 RBIs.
Hering and Nowakowski rank second and fourth on the team in batting average at .360 and .277, respectively. Nowakowski's six homers match Rahrich for the team lead.
Sanzone, a freshman outfielder from East Meadow, enters the America East tourney hitting .310.
McFarland, a freshman second baseman from Greeley, Colo., is hitting .261.
