STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Big-time championship performances, long-time records getting smashed and a curtain call for the ages highlight the month of May in Seawolves Country and the three responsible were honored on Tuesday with Centereach Hyundai Student-Athletes of the Month honors.

Men's Track and Field's Luke Coulter and Vann Moffett, as well as women's lacrosse's Taryn Ohlmiller, were honored after putting on a show in their respective championships.

Moffett started the month by breaking an America East Championship meet record from before the millenium, running the 5000m in 14:08.04, qualifying him for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet. Karl Rasmussen held the previous record of 14:19.06, a time ran in 1998.

It was at the aforementioned East Preliminary meet where Coulter made his mark, running the 800m in 1:48.97, a time good enough for second in his heat and ninth overall, qualifying him for the quarterfinals in the event. He would finish 17th in that round on Friday night.

Ohlmiller did something that hadn't been done since 2008 in her NCAA Tournament matchup with Rutgers, dishing eight assists in the 20-8 victory over Rutgers. That tied Katie Rowan's NCAA Tournament record for assists in a game. Her 12 points brought her within one of Rowan's NCAA record and broke the Stony Brook program record, set by Courtney Murphy in 2018.

Murphy's career points standing was also jumped as well by the graduate attacker, as Taryn finished the day with 408 to Courtney's 406.
