CELEBRATING HISTORY: Throughout the game against Fordham, Stony Brook will honor members of the 2010 and 2011 Big South Championship teams. This season marks the 10- and 11-year anniversaries of the 2010 and 2011 teams. In 2010, the Seawolves claimed a share of the Big South title for the second-straight season, while in 2011 Stony Brook earned an outright Big South Championship when it upended Liberty, 41-31. THE MATCHUP: A local New York rivalry renews on Saturday, September 25, when Stony Brook hosts Fordham at 3:30 p.m. It marks the fifth time in history that the New York foes will go head-to-head as the Seawolves control a (3-1) advantage in the all-time series and are winners of three in a row. Stony Brook defeated Fordham, 45-10, in the teams' last meeting on September 21, 2019. The Seawolves' ground attack led the charge in the win as they compiled 363 yards. The run game was paced by
Seba Nekhet, who rushed for a career-high 182 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Quarterback
Tyquell Fields went 9-12 for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Fields also accounted for 39 yards on 15 rushes. The teams first met on October 27, 1987, and Fordham came away with a 14-6 victory in the first-ever football contest between the New York-based schools.

STONY BROOK VS. THE PATRIOT LEAGUE: The Seawolves are 12-7 all-time against current Patriot League football members. Current Patriot league members include: Holy Cross (0-0), Georgetown (1-3), Bucknell (2-0), Colgate (4-1), Fordham (3-1), Lafayette (1-1), and Lehigh (1-1). Stony Brook took down Colgate, 24-3, in the teams' Week 2 matchup on September 11, in Hamilton, NY.

THE KING OF THE WEEK: After a standout performance on Saturday against No. 4 Oregon, redshirt freshman linebacker
Tyler King was named the CAA Football Rookie of the Week. The CAA weekly honor was the first of King's career and he was the first Stony Brook football student-athlete to be tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Week since
Nick Chimienti on March 29, 2021. King anchored the Seawolves' defense as he recorded a career-high 12 tackles (seven solo, five assists) versus the Ducks. The linebacker registered a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss and notched his first sack of the season. King tallied the second of back-to-back sacks of Oregon's quarterback Anthony Brown to end the first half of play.

TOUCHDOWN TY SON: Redshirt junior running back
Ty Son Lawton rushed for 53 yards on 15 carries and found the end zone for the third time this season last Saturday. The redshirt junior has rushed for a touchdown in each of the first three games of the season for the Seawolves. The three-game touchdown streak is the second-longest of his career. Lawton had a five-game touchdown streak in 2019 (Sep. 21-Oct. 26).
