STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University women's basketball team (23-4, 14-3 America East) came out strong, but could not keep up with the River Hawk's hot shooting as they fell to UMass Lowell (10-14, 7-8 America East), 70-68, on Wednesday night.
The Seawolves' offense was led by graduate forward
India Pagan who finished the night with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. The 10 made field goals mark a new season-high for the Connecticut native.
Anastasia Warren and
Gigi Gonzalez followed Pagan finishing in double figures on the night. Warren raked in 16 points and knocked down a team-high two three-pointers, while Gonzalez chipped in 11 points and dished out a team-high six assists.
After a back-and-forth fourth quarter, Warren hit a three with six seconds left to tie the game, 68-68. Stony Brook was not able to take advantage of the last-minute comeback, as the River Hawks converted a layup with two seconds left in the contest to walk away with the win.
STATS AND NOTES
- Pagan finished the night with 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field, marking the third time this season the forward has scored 20 or more points. The 10 made field goals are a new-season high for Pagan.
- Warren raked in 16 points and knocked down a team-high two three-pointers.
