OTTAWA, Ontario — A Seawolves staple in the cage will be representing her country on the world stage.

Getting ready to enter her third season as a Stony Brook goalkeeper, Kam Halsall will be joining Team Canada at the 2022 Women's Lacrosse Women's World Cup, one of two goalkeepers named to the roster.

The Caledon, Ontario native joins Oregon's Cassidy Eckert as the two keepers on the roster and is one of 12 active collegiate athletes ready to represent Team Canada in 2022.

"I am absolutely honored to be selected to compete among a group of women I respect and admire as people and players," Halsall said. "I am stoked to have the opportunity to represent the Maple Leafe and do something we have never done before. Playing for Canada at the world stage has always been a dream of mine and I am humbled to do so this summer at the World Championships!"

The 2021 America East All-Championship Team member and two-time Defensive Player of the Week made a name for herself during the 2021 campaign, matching the program's America East Championship record with 10 saves in the title game against UAlbany.

"Kameron is an outstanding goalie and person and I could not be any prouder of her, as she will be a huge part of Team Canada's success," head coach Joe Spallina said.

She finished second in the conference last season in save percentage and third in total saves, going 13-3 on the year en route to helping the Seawolves to an NCAA Quarterfinal berth in 2021.

The World Cup, postponed from 2021, will feature a record 30 teams and Halsall's native Canada will enter as the No. 2 seed. Her country won silver at the 2017 version held in Guildford, United Kingdom.

Before that, her Seawolves get underway on February 20, taking on No. 3 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome at 4 p.m., starting a stretch of three ranked matchups in their first four outings to begin 2022.
