Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Late Three Sinks Men's Hoops in Newark

NEWARK, N.J. — Miles Coleman hit a go-ahead three with 2.0 seconds remaining and the ensuing inbounds pass was intercepted, finalizing a sequence of events that sent the Stony Brook men's basketball team to its second straight loss on Saturday night, a 65-62 defeat at the hands of NJIT at the Wellness and Events Center.

Juan Felix Rodriguez tied the game on the previous possession, driving right to the cup to knot the game at 62.

After the first of two possessions was stonewalled by the Stony Brook defense, the host Highlanders called timeout and drew up the game winning play to send Stony Brook to 13-9 and 5-4 in America East play this season.

Frankie Policelli and Anthony Roberts led the Seawolves with 15 points apiece, while Tykei Greene added 11 and Jaden Sayles chipped in 10 points.

STATS AND NOTES
  • Policelli's trio of triples was the most since Jan. 8 against Maine.
  • He also tied his season high and high against league opposition with six boards.
  • Tyler Stephenson-Moore recorded his first multi-block game and fourth of his career with a pair of rejections.
  • Omar Habwe swiped a pair of steals, his fourth multi-steal game of the year.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Our guys were able to fight hard tonight but just could not make enough winning plays down the stretch. I'm proud of our guys being able to claw back late but now we have to turn the page, as we have a quick turnaround to bring in a good New Hampshire team on Monday night' - head coach Geno Ford.

UP NEXT
The Seawolves have a quick turnaround, hosting New Hampshire on Monday night at 7 p.m. at Island Federal Arena. It will be the second of three games and the first of two at The Island in a 48-hour span.
