STONY BROOK, N.Y. — After
Juan Felix Rodriguez tied the game with 13 seconds to go, New Hampshire was able to beat the buzzer on the other end, grabbing an offensive rebound and putback as time expired to give the visiting Wildcats a 67-65 victory over the host Seawolves on Monday night at Island Federal Arena.
Tykei Greene was able to lead the Seawolves, pouring in 23 points and hauling in 10 boards to pace his squad in both categories. He also added a pair of steals and pair of blocks.
Stony Brook was able to overcome a seven-point deficit with 12:53 to play, ripping off a 12-4 run to take a 51-50 lead with 8:29 to go. After that, no team led by more than three.
STATS AND NOTES
- Jahlil Jenkins hit a major career milestone as he recorded his 2,000th career point. He finished the game with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field. Jenkins became the second Stony Brook player in program history (Jameel Warney, 2,132) and 12th active player in NCAA DI to achieve the milestone.
- Frankie Policelli's two blocks bested his previous season-high and tied his career best.
- Tykei Greene raked in a season-high 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field and pulled down 10 rebounds to secure his ninth career double-double. He now sits tied for sixth in the record books with Andrew Garcia (2017-20).
- Greene's 23 points mark the most points he has scored against New Hampshire in his career. He totaled 14 points in the first half alone, making it his third contest with double-digit first half scoring.
- Stony Brook's six blocked shots are a new game-high for the Seawolves, surpassing the previous five swats against UAlbany on Jan. 22.
- The Seawolves made 19-of-19 from the free throw line, the most without a miss in school history.
