PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The No. 5 Stony Brook women's lacrosse team was able to dominate on both ends on the road Tuesday night, rolling to a 15-3 win over Ivy League foe Brown.
Kailyn Hart and
Ellie Masera teamed up again to lead the Seawolves, as the two combined for 11 points on the afternoon. Hart tallied two goals and four assists, while Masera added a hat trick with a pair of assists.
Kyla Zapolski recorded her first hat trick in a Seawolves uniform, tallying three goals, while
Jaden Hampel and
Jesse Arline added two each.
The Stony Brook offense recorded two in the opening quarter, with Masera finding the net 90 seconds into the frame and Zapolski doubling the lead with 20 seconds left in the quarter.
It was in the second that the Seawolves offense exploded, scoring the first five of the frame and six of the seven overall as five different players found twine.
Out of the half, Brown scored the first goal of the period, but again the Seawolves would go on a run, rattling off the next seven tallies of the night to establish control.
STATS AND NOTES
- Hart's four assists are a new career-best, one-upping her three she had at Syracuse on February 20. That ties the most by a Seawolves player this season.
- Masera recorded hat trick number five on the season and seventh of her career.
- Her first with the Seawolves, Zapolski now has 22 hat tricks for her collegiate career.
- Arline recorded her first multi-goal game of the season and fifth of her Seawolves stint.
- Haley Dillon finished the day with four caused turnovers, tying her career best that came against UAlbany on May 4, 2019. That is also the highest mark by any Seawolves player this season.
- The Seawolves defense held Brown to .167 shooting, the lowest by any opponent this season.
- Brown's 19 turnovers are also one off the most by a Stony Brook opponent this season.
