STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The next stop for dynamic guard Toby Onyekonwu is on Long Island.

The Joliet West product has had a winding road through the high school circuit but has produced at every stop along the way, landing him a spot with the Seawolves.

"We are very excited to add Toby to our program," head coach Geno Ford said. "He has the ability to score on three levels and is a skilled backcourt player. Coach Jeremy Kreiger at Joliet West has produced multiple D1 players and has done great work helping to develop him. We believe Toby has a bright future and will impact our program."

In just 15 games with Joliet West, he finished the year averaging 23 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. This was highlighted by a 33-point outing in his return to the floor on January 7, a double-overtime victory for his Illinois school.

He also earned Southwest Prairie Conference MVP honors a season ago.

"I'm beyond excited to get out there and start this new journey," Onyekonwu said. "I'm ready to meet the guys and start working with all of them. It's been a blessing to get this opportunity to continue playing ball."
