STONY BROOK, N.Y. — With two outs in the eighth,
Stanton Leuthner came up with a chance to win the game.
He did just that.
The junior shortstop launched a fly ball over the left-field fence, giving the Stony Brook baseball program a 5-3 advantage en route to a win by the same score as the Seawolves took the first of three against Binghamton on Friday afternoon at Joe Nathan Field.
Leuthner took the first three pitches he saw before giving the Seawolves the lead for good.
It was the second homer of the day for Stony Brook, as
Evan Fox started the scoring in the fourth with a long ball to the same part of the park.
Ryan Micheli drove in the second run on a safety squeeze to plate Leuthner in the fifth and then scored on a fielder's choice in the seventh.
Ben Fero took a no-hitter into the sixth, finishing with a quality start, allowing two runs on two hits through 6.1 innings in a no-decision.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"That was another great college baseball game. The guys, in their own individual way, are playing within Stony Brook Baseball's style of play. Usually, once the way we do things click, you start to see some positive results and they're enjoying the positive results. To their credit, they've stayed consistent with it and that's why we've been seeing this stretch of success." - head coach
Matt Senk
"It's always the defense. They're a really good team and I just let them put the ball in play and let our guys play the day. Our defense is absolutely impeccable, so I just try to do what I do. Don't walk anybody and then let our team do the work" - senior pitcher
Ben Fero
"It feels great. That was a battle and they played a really good game. We were able to handle it and I'm just glad I was able to help our guys out." - junior shortstop
Stanton Leuthner.
